Johannes Bohnen spoke to the Rotary Club Berlin Tiergarten on Nov. 4, 2016, about the dwindling power of the middle class to determine the socio-political discourse. Using the example of the fragile transatlantic relationship, which Dr. Bohnen attributes primarily to the weakening democracies on both sides of the Atlantic, he showed that new impulses from the "voiceless middle class" are needed to strengthen our democracy. For him, the Atlantic Expedition of the Atlantic Initiative is an example of such an impulse, as it brings together the next generation of decision-makers from a wide range of sectors and initiates a dialogue.
